Day 4
Different countries has their own specific features
How to solve eating problem are always critical for foreign students.
In other country, eating, transportation, communication and housing are all daily need. Someone ever mention about the price in US are usually more expensive than TW. I partial agree this viewpoint. I compare two country’s price as follow:
Renting a house-- DC(2 Bdr, in the heart of every Metro, average $1500-$3000) are expensive than TW(maybe $700)
Metro-- DC(Fares range from $1.95 to $5 depending on your destination and the time of day) are expensive than TW(minimum $0.5)
Mobile--DC(usually charge both sides, at&t “go phone--pay only on days used” program are $60/month, means $2 per day and unlimited talk and text) are partial expensive than TW($10-$60)
Commodity--DC 1.5 times than TW(But milk are much cheaper than TW)
Food--DC(a meal average $5) are expensiv e than TW($1.5--國民便當and variety food stands)
I want to share a interesting thing about "eating".
one day, when I was wondered where to eat. Some kindly Taiwanese classmates told me: let’s go for some low-cost and high-value luxury lunch. After a minutes walked from JHU, we arrrived at“Jack's fresh restaurant”, right on the Connecticut Av.
During lunch time there was many people waited in line to buy lunch. My classmate reminded me that the price of vegetable and meats are the same in D.C., and the food was charged by the weight no matter what u got. So I should think twice and take what I “really want”.
Wow, how could that happen? That’s totally different from Taiwan.. In order to get a bargain, that’s no doubt to get more and more an more and more ....meats and fishs.
The fully box is only $11…American is the paradise for people likes to eat meat!
Expensive commodities in DC, I try to cook in order to save expense.
The town I lived, in King Charles way, near Grosnevor Stratmore station.
DC metro
“Jack's fresh restaurant” near the crossroad of Connecticut Av.
The Cheapest option for me---
Golden Teamwork could provide 24 hours international call and only cost 20 USD.
Exotic cuisine---I order "Jamaican牙買加 style EMPANADAS" and cost $7
